fashion house

Fashion is an art that reflects life. Now and then we hear the names of Valentino, Paco Rabanne, Chanel, Giorgio Armani etc. There designers have a tremendous influence on our hair styles, what we wear, the way we put on makeup and even our habits. Fashion gurus determine our choice of clothing every season.A fashion calendar includes several very significant events called fashion weeks. Fashion weeks are arranged each season for fashion designers to present their latest collections in runway shows and for customers to see the latest trends. Most importantly, they show the fashion industry what is in fashion and what is out of fashion for the season. The most significant fashion weeks are arranged in the fashion capitals, including Milan, London, New York and Paris where luxury clothes (also called haute couture) are shown.Haute Couture is a French word combination for expensive and fashionable clothes intended for ladies. Couture means dressmaking, sewing, or needlework, whereas haute stands for sophisticated. Haute couture garments are made for a specific customer from high-quality, expensive fabrics and sewed by hand usually deploying time-consuming techniques. Hence, couture items are luxurious and exclusive.Dependent on the haute couturier and the garment, the price of a couture item varies from $10, 000 for a blouse to $40, 000 and often beyond that amount. The cost includes payments for the service, work, originality of a unique design and splendid fabrics of the finest quality. Moreover, every client will receive a garment to fit them well. It takes approximately 100-150 hours to make a handmade suit and up to 1000 hours for an embroidered evening dress with thousands of beads sewn by hand. A haute couture house like Chanel, for instance, will have around 150 regular clients ordering couture clothes, and a couture house like Dior will make about twenty luxury wedding gowns annually.Along with clothes, well-renowned fashion houses make chic luxurious accessories, such as hats, buttons, belts, jewelry, shoes, handbags. Those who can afford couture clothes are happy to pay for exclusivity and the privacy guaranteed by the system.
